If you saw a pack of bikes at Barrie's Ski and Sports on Monday, here's why. Australian cyclist Jack Thompson rode into Pocatello for a ride with around 100 middle school students on his 60-day trip through 48 states. He's an ambassador for , a California-based group that promotes mental health and well-being through bicycles.

The students come from , an Outride grant program that puts bikes and helmets in middle schools. Natasha Lattin, a School District 25 teacher, said the district wrote its first grant about four years ago and got 30 bikes and helmets. The Idaho State Journal had previewed the noon send-off ride the week before.

  • Riding for Focus is now in all four Pocatello middle schools
  • Students ride in the first and third trimesters, usually three to four times a week
  • Classes average 25 to 27 students

“The bike was a bit of a savior for me.”

I posted before about getting help for rent.

“Okay I asked the Mormon church that since I'm not a member they can't help me. And somebody said that salvation army doesn't help with rent and I know that St Vincent does but on certain days and they might not have enough and you have to have first come first serve which is kind of hard for me right now but I know…”
