- ➤ A powerful wind storm hit southeast Idaho on Wednesday, leaving debris and downed trees in Pocatello. City crews are cleaning Alameda Park and Mountain View Cemetery today while residents are urged to avoid hazards and can obtain a free permit (at Lower Ross Park) for fallen firewood. Local News 8
- ➤ Chubbuck Lions Club will host its 63rd annual Special Needs Christmas Dinner at the ISU Pond Ballroom on Sunday, Dec. 21 at noon. The free event welcomes over 400 guests for a meal, holiday entertainment, gifts, and a visit from Santa. East Idaho News
- ➤ The Monte Vista to Pocatello Creek multi use pathway was completed on Dec. 17. It now connects local residential areas and commercial hubs, featuring ADA accessible ramps + storm drainage improvements. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

- ➤ Idaho State University's Law Enforcement program graduated 20 cadets during a ceremony held earlier this month in Pocatello. Post Register

- ➤ Pocatello is preparing for its annual Portneuf Valley Environmental Fair on April 18 at Lookout Point & the event will feature interactive exhibits, demonstrations and hands-on activities while seeking sponsors, exhibitors and volunteers. KPVI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bannock County Ambulance District will launch a full-time advanced life support crew at the new McCammon Fire Station in July 2026 to replace volunteer ambulances in rural south Bannock. The upgrade cuts response times and offers higher-level care to communities (including Inkom, Lava Hot Springs, Arimo, Downey, and Swan Lake). Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ The City of Pocatello and Historic Downtown Pocatello will host an open house (Dec. 22, 4 to 6 p.m.) at 435 W. Center Street to explain the Center Street Underpass Project, which will begin construction in early January 2026 to repair elements for a route used by 10,000 vehicles daily. - ➤ Idaho Fish and Game promotes small game hunting this winter as a way for local hunters to hone field skills and enjoy the outdoors.
