- ➤ Aid For Friends Shelter in Pocatello hosted its 19th annual homeless encampment at Caldwell park on Saturday, Dec. 6 — the event featured cardboard sleeping boxes, winter weather training from a local church and community support to raise funds for shelter services. Local News 8
- ➤ Pocatellans can help fill pets’ bowls with a Holiday Pet Food Drive that Animal Services launched on Friday and will run until Jan. 4. Donations can be dropped off at city locations—like the Animal Shelter and City Hall. East Idaho News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ PCSD 25 elementary schools will join the global Hour of AI event today through Friday, Dec. 12 + teachers will guide learners with hands-on activities to explore artificial intelligence and digital literacy. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rebecca Falcon warns that county commissioners are set to revise ordinances to revive an industrial solar and battery project near Downey; the proposal would build a 300 mw battery system on 2400 acres (raising concerns over wetlands and local emergency services) and includes a contract offering $20k to the city with an additional $80k when work begins. - ➤ Idaho State's Reed Gym Pool hosted its first collegiate swim meet in six years on Saturday, Dec. 6 with Boise State, Utah State & Weber State competing in the Bengal Invitational meet.
