COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched its worldwide 'Light the World Giving Machine' on Wednesday and will open a kiosk at the ICCU headquarters at 4400 Central Way in Chubbuck at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15. The kiosk will stay open through November 30 and lets residents donate to local and international charities with 100 percent of every contribution going directly to groups like United Way Southeastern Idaho and Bannock Youth Foundation — boosting community support in East Idaho.  Local News 8
  • Grants and local support are funding new public libraries in small Idaho towns that will offer reliable internet and free meeting spaces, and planning is underway for their openings soon—bringing valuable community resources to rural areas.  Idaho State Journal
  • The annual Angels with Santa event will be held on November 22 at 5:00 p.m. at the Museum of Clean in Pocatello to help families in need at Christmas+ dinner, entertainment, raffles and a live auction are planned while sponsors and donations are still sought.  KPVI

  • Idaho Coffee Company opened a new shop at the Museum of Clean today on the first floor, offering pastries, coffee, tea and other beverages for museum visitors. The owner credited community support and the museum’s backing for making this expansion possible — the shop is open during the museum's hours.  KPVI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Pocatello-Chubbuck School District held its third annual Apprenticeship Plus Night at Pocatello High School Monday night, where more than 20 representatives from local businesses, the military, Idaho Power and cosmetology programs shared earn-while-you-learn and other career training options. The event, organized by Pocatello, Highland and Century High, aimed to help students explore various pathways to career learning — a critical move amid growing apprenticeship opportunities in Idaho.  KPVI

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local health officials are hosting free flu shot clinics throughout eastern Idaho this November — clinics are set up at multiple sites — so residents can get vaccinated with no cost.  Idaho State Journal
  • A local woman in Pocatello is hosting a video game fundraiser to raise money for Idaho's only children's hospital—she hopes the event will give kids an extra chance at an extra life. The campaign will support improved hospital care and needed services.  Idaho State Journal
