COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On November 6, the CHC Foundation in Idaho Falls awarded $506,854 in grants to 20 nonprofits, schools and city programs across eastern Idaho—marking a significant investment in local groups.  Post Register
  • Mister Duke is a two-year-old cocker spaniel poodle-mix looking for his furr-ever home. Call Pocatello Animal Services at 208-234-6156 to set up a meeting.  KPVI
  • Community support and library grants have helped small Idaho towns build and renovate public libraries to offer free internet, study spaces and meeting rooms. Kendrick’s library opened earlier this month, Inkom’s branch will open in early January, and Fernwood’s branch planned for the fall will provide improved access for local residents.  East Idaho News
  • SNAP uncertainty has driven a steady stream of visitors to the El-Ada Community Action Partnership food pantry in Garden City today—customers have been arriving since it opened Thursday morning and continued through the afternoon.  Idaho State Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pocatello’s oldest family-run restaurant has launched a new food truck called Jumbo’s Xpress Cafe at 4539 South 5th Avenue — the truck offers a mix of classic and new menu items in the underserved South Fifth Corridor. The food truck will operate through winter with plans to extend weekend service and event catering in the near future.  East Idaho News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Chubbuck police officer, Sergeant Tyler Hoffa, received the Life Saving Award after he saved a woman on May 7th by starting lifesaving measures and instructing a colleague to administer Narcan—he was nominated by a fellow officer and reviewed by a committee before the honor was given.  KPVI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Colossal Fight Company, an MMA gym on East Lander Street and North 5th, saw three fighters win Revolution Cage Combat championship belts on October 25—Donnie Farris won the lightweight title, Kaleb Jordan claimed the welterweight belt, and Lonell Woodhouse secured the middleweight title. The gym, set in a building that looks like an auto repair shop, is known for its strong team spirit and top local competition.  East Idaho News
