COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pocatello Free Clinic started its 8th annual ‘Rake a Difference’ fundraiser today to raise money for the clinic as volunteers will rake leaves in assigned yards. Registration for yard clean-ups is closed but the clinic still accepts volunteer sign-ups for work today, tomorrow, next Friday and next Saturday—donors may contribute funds for a yard service.  KPVI

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fairway Condominiums in Pocatello flooded early Friday when a main pipeline burst, forcing the evacuation of one unit. Axium Properties reported that Roto Rooter Plumbing had pumped the water out by mid-afternoon — residents then returned to their homes.  Local News 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sabine Siekmann—an ISU grad who arrived in Pocatello from Rotenburg, Germany as a 17-year-old Rotary exchange student in 1988—is now working to save a language with projects that extend to Alaska.  Idaho State Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fish and Game is working to rebuild local trout populations after drought conditions reduced water levels—officials say warm valley temperatures limited low-elevation snowfall despite a strong high-elevation snowpack last winter. They expect trout fishing to be more difficult in 2026 as a result.  Idaho State Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • In February 2024, Idaho lawmakers debated a bill that would have repealed Medicaid expansion and affected health care access for everyone. The proposal raised concerns that cutting Medicaid could harm services for all residents.  Idaho State Journal
