- ➤ Smokey is a one-year-old mix of German Shepherd, Mastiff, and St. Bernard who has been at the shelter for about a month and is looking for his furr-ever home; call Pocatello Animal Services at (208-234-6156) to set up a visit. KPVI
- ➤ The Pocatello Police Department launched its 7th annual turkey drive—Give the Cops a Bird—to help the local Idaho Foodbank. Donations of frozen turkeys, canned goods and money will be accepted at the department until November 20. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ Kandy Land is an eight-day holiday event at Pinehurst Greenhouse in Pocatello hosted by Kanda's and Co. It runs daily (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on most days and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday) and features 43 vendors with free entry, while raffle ticket proceeds (which benefit Guy and Alice Nason’s House of Hope) will support local youth. - ➤ The family of 19-year-old Jonas Dario Diaz is calling for help as investigators probe his suspicious death discovered on November 1st on private property in Inkom—authorities urge anyone with useful information to come forward. East Idaho News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Bannock County and the United Way of Southeastern Idaho launched the KIDS First Coalition to help working parents stay in the workforce by sharing childcare costs among employers, parents, and public funding. - ➤ America250 in Idaho announced The Thomas Jefferspud Writing Contest for Idaho students ages 12-18 to write essays or short stories about a revolutionary figure who helped shape the nation (entries must be 250-500 words). Submissions are due March 1 and winners will be announced May 1 with the top winner receiving a $250 college savings contribution and the top 24 earning certificates and publication. - ➤ Ellis Elementary School started a weekly after-school play club—open to third, fourth, and fifth graders—to let kids choose their own activities with two staff members and two parent monitors. The club began earlier this year with about 10 students and now has grown to nearly 25–30 kids; it will pause for cold weather and resume in spring to further support independent play.
