- ➤ Hygge Place in downtown Pocatello at 201 North Main Street opened in December 2023 and now offers a cozy mix of books and thriving houseplants as a community hub. Owner Cammy Barrera created the space—blending a love of reading with Danish hygge—to host events such as Plant Bingo, book signings, and book club gatherings. East Idaho News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A local fire department responded to a shop building fire near Highway 39 in Rockford on Saturday at 4 p.m.-limited staffing meant only one firefighter was on engine duty until volunteer and off-duty crews joined to control the blaze in 30 minutes with minimal damage. KPVI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former Idaho Congressman Richard Stallings died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at his home—he was 85 and had battled aggressive lymphoma for 14 years. His funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at a local church. East Idaho News
- ➤ As the federal government shutdown continues, Idaho officials have not determined whether funds for the WIC program—which helps pregnant moms, new mothers, and parents of young children—will continue. Idaho State Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Pocatello-based Rise & Respond Foundation founder Samuel Ferrell launched a new suicide prevention program & educational fund after losing his childhood friend Scott Sabrosky, with part of the fund set aside for his daughter Rayne. The board met on Oct. 23 and approved opening the fund at Citizens Community Bank while planning an annual event to raise awareness. East Idaho News
