CULTURE NEWS

  • The Hygge Place on 201 N. Main St opened in December 2023 to offer a cozy space where local owner Cammy Barrera blends books and houseplants. The shop hosts monthly events—like Plant Bingo and author meet-ups—to bring Pocatello readers together.  East Idaho News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game has issued a salvage order for irrigation canals in the Upper Snake and Southeast Regions, which will allow the public to salvage stranded fish from Oct. 31 to Nov. 30 as irrigation ends. Anglers must have a valid Idaho fishing license and follow rules including no use of firearms, explosives, chemicals, or electrical current (call 208-525-7290 or 208-232-4703 for more details).  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Pocatello released its Road Construction & Traffic Report for this week, noting that street sweepers, pothole patching, and crosswalk repainting are underway along with water main replacement on S. Arthur Ave from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday — Booth Road will be closed through October 31 for sewer work while S. 5th Avenue will have a lane shift until November 7 and a Trunk or Treat event on Warren Ave will require a temporary closure on October 30.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

SPORTS NEWS

  • Eastern Idaho teams wrapped up the rainy Idaho Soccer State Championships Saturday with seven local schools earning trophies. Marsh Valley Eagles finished second in the girls’ 4A game after losing by a 4 to 0 score to the Sugar-Salem Diggers—teams in other divisions won with penalty kicks or extra time deciding their contests.  East Idaho News
