- ➤ Starting November 3, Marshall Public Library is hosting its annual Food for Fines drive—each donated non-perishable food item forgives $1 in overdue fines to benefit The Idaho Foodbank. - ➤ With winter fast approaching, Valley Mission works to replace Pocatello’s only overnight warming center after The Refuge closed at the historic church on 309 North Garfield Avenue. The nonprofit is calling on trained volunteers—who must complete required training—to help run the center and keep people safe from the cold. East Idaho News

- ➤ A newly repurposed recycling facility in Pocatello is cutting overhead expenses for taxpayers while making the city greener—efforts aimed at reducing waste and saving money for local government. Idaho State Journal
- ➤ Today, a Pocatello nature preserve is using about three dozen billy goats to fight invasive cheatgrass—these goats are switching from sweet grass to cheatgrass to help control its spread. Idaho State Journal
- ➤ Officials removed a large female moose from a Chubbuck backyard on Whitaker Road (south of Vern Road and west of Hiline Road) Wednesday morning after tranquilizing it with help from Idaho Fish and Game and City Animal Control. It was then released to a remote habitat to keep people and vehicles safe, marking the second such relocation from a southeast Idaho neighborhood in less than two weeks. East Idaho News

- ➤ Next week, the Pocatello Fire Department will hold a push-in ceremony at 5:15 p.m. on October 29th at Fire Station 1 to welcome its new aerial ladder truck, Truck 1.
