- ➤ On Saturday, an estimated 2,000 people gathered at Caldwell Park for the 'No Kings' rally—possibly the largest protest in Pocatello history. Idaho State Journal

- ➤ The 28th annual Southeast Idaho Homeless Stand Down took place early Saturday at Pocatello High School—providing free haircuts, health care, hygiene kits, blankets, and sleeping bags along with long-term help such as housing access, warming shelter, job assistance, and veteran support. - ➤ City Hall is still accepting nominations for the Golden Pumpkin Award contest that celebrates creative Halloween yard decor in Pocatello. The contest—launched by the Pocatello Arts Council—requires nominees to include the home address and a brief explanation, with entries closing on Oct 20 and winners announced on Oct 23 on the city's Facebook page. - ➤ The City of Pocatello will hold a ribbon cutting at 5:15 p.m. Monday, October 20 at 3034 Garrett Way to open its renovated Recycling Services Facility—upgrades include new interior work and a better drop-off area—and the project, acquired from Western Recycling in August, was partly funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. - ➤ Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson warned that a government shutdown resulted in thousands of furloughs for federal workers and contractors—halting services such as housing vouchers for homeless veterans, SBA loans and national parks.
