- ➤ Idaho Power reminds farmers and field workers to keep at least 10 feet from energized power lines during harvest season to avoid dangerous mistakes and accidents — the guidelines suggest using a spotter when moving tall equipment and clearing debris and advise contacting them for help if distances are unclear. - ➤ Today, Pocatello Animal Services partnered with Phil Meador Subaru for the Pick your Pupkin Adoption Event as part of Subaru Loves Pets month—adopters picked their own fee while Subaru covered the rest and gave an adoption kit. The event let people spend time with dogs before adopting despite the cold and rainy weather. KPVI
- ➤ Valley Mission in Pocatello will host a 24-hour event called Conversations on a Bench to share real stories that raise awareness about homelessness — aiming to shift public views on the issue. - ➤ Marshall Public Library will launch a free teen robotics club named Tech Titans on Oct. 11 from 3-5 p.m. at its 113 S. Garfield Ave location in Pocatello; the program is made possible by a $20,000 donation from Friends of the Marshall Public Library and lets local teens build and program robots—space is limited to the first 30 students. - ➤ Beginning Oct. 7, Idaho Fish and Game will temporarily close public access to Edson Fichter Nature Area in Pocatello—access is expected to resume later that day based on repair progress. East Idaho News
- ➤ Idaho Fish and Game hatchery staff from the Southeast Region will release nearly 185,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout in local waters during October — a move to boost fishing opportunities. The trout will be stocked at various spots — giving local anglers a chance to enjoy more fishing this month. Idaho State Journal
- ➤ For the past weeks a local backyard has hosted warblers, chickadees and kinglets feeding on insects and berries from hybrid poplars and chokecherry bushes. Observers in Pocatello expect that if promised rain and snow arrive later — bringing more migrant birds — fall will brighten with added color. East Idaho News

- ➤ Chubbuck mayoral race sees incumbent Kevin England and challenger Rodney Burch running for office in the November 4 election. Both candidates filled out questionnaires detailing their backgrounds, future plans and ideas on affordable housing—information designed to help voters make their choice. East Idaho News
- ➤ In September, the Bannock County Assessor’s Office saw a change in foot traffic as busy parent mornings gave way to crowded afternoons, and staff thanked customers for their patience. New license plates have been popular—over 13,000 black and white plates and 9,000 white and teal plates were ordered, and winter Parks & Recreation permits will be available next month.
