  • Jag’s Pet Wash opened its new 24/7 self serve facility near Westwood Mall to let pet owners wash their dogs on their own schedule. The service offers a simple and affordable option for cleaning pets — a fresh choice for local residents.  Idaho State Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • POCATELLO — A local businessman and church member is reflecting on his personal connection to the shooting at an LDS chapel in Michigan following the attack's aftermath.  Idaho State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Little Women: The Musical opened Friday night at Westside Players, where the new stage hosted the final show of the 2025 season and marked the only time in nearly 40 years the theater has produced this classic story—director Tanner Morton noted over 40 auditioned for 11 roles and the show will run every Friday and Saturday night in October with a special performance on Oct. 16.  KPVI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • PCSD 25 appointed Sergeant Richard Sampson as Lead School Resource Officer and welcomed Officer Casey Hollowell as a new SRO for Chubbuck schools—this move supports the district's commitment to safe school environments. Sampson, with 23 years of experience, and Hollowell, a 2022 POST Academy graduate, will now serve the community.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • The Marshall Public Library in Pocatello announced the launch of Tech Titans, a free robotics club for teens+ that will meet weekly to help them learn robotics skills.  Idaho State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Pocatello police officer Greg Cates—who served for 16 years on the force and has lived in the community for over 20 years—is running for mayor to restore accountability after last April's officer-involved shooting that killed Victor Perez. He promises to reform police procedures and urges residents to vote on November 4.  KPVI
  • On September 30, 2025, the Pocatello Fire Department received Truck 1, a state-of-the-art aerial tiller truck with a 107 foot ladder and advanced controls for navigating tight city streets and rural roads—replacing a fire apparatus that served for 23 years. Firefighters will train on the new equipment in the coming weeks to ensure safe and effective emergency response.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • The City of Pocatello will close Optimist Skate Park on October 9 and 10 so crews from Artisan Skateparks can finish construction and winterization at 972 N. 7th Avenue— the park will reopen on October 11.  Local News 8

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Dirty soda, a mix of soda, cream, and flavored syrups, is drawing attention in our region after comedian Bert Kreischer popularized the drink on social media — local shops have served similar drinks for years as soda consumption makes a comeback. Pepsi will introduce two ready-to-drink dirty soda-inspired beverages in a few weeks.  East Idaho News
