- ➤ On October 11, downtown Pocatello will host the first Costume Dash and Monster Mash Carnival featuring a kiddie costume dash at 10:00 a.m., a 5K zombie run at 10:15 a.m.—carnival activities will follow at the old Convergy building on 805 North Main Street to help children and families facing poverty and housing insecurity in Eastern Idaho. - ➤ The Idaho Museum of Natural History will unveil Gem State's ancient reptile skull during its fifth annual Fossil Fest in Pocatello—inviting community members to explore and learn about fossils through hands-on activities. Idaho State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pocatello’s Road Construction & Traffic Report for the week of September 29 shows that street sweepers are active while crews mill and pave Pole Line Rd—residents face no parking from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. City crews are also patching potholes and repainting markings, and the Water Department is replacing pipes on S. Arthur Ave between W. Whitman and S. Main during work hours Monday to Thursday. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ The City of Pocatello got a $4.8 million grant from the U.S. Forest Service to launch a five-year plan to lower wildfire risk in Portneuf Valley. Manager Hannah Sanger said the money will help cut fuel build-up—and support local safety measures. Local News 8
- ➤ Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner was honored with the prestigious Mills Adler Award — a recognition of his outstanding leadership in county government — at the Idaho Association of Counties conference in Boise on September 29th.
