- ➤ The Pocatello/Chubbuck Senior Center has posted its October lunch menu online and will serve lunch from 11:30 to 12:30 Tuesday through Friday at 427 N 6th Avenue in Pocatello. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ After two days of searching, three Pocatello mountain bikers located missing Blaine County hiker Heather Wayment in the rugged Camas County wilderness — she was injured with bleeding feet and dehydration. Additional dirt bikers helped by providing food and water while the group used GPS and satellite texting to alert search and rescue, and a helicopter later picked her up safely. East Idaho News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ It’s Worth Mentioning, a local podcast on history and pop culture, returned with an episode on black history in eastern Idaho as Rett Nelson interviewed Delphia Bradley, who moved to Idaho Falls in 2023 to escape racism and now runs a traveling art exhibit on African-American culture—she hopes to eventually open a cultural arts center there. The episode also features Pocatello native Les Purce, the state’s first black elected official and recently retired president of Evergreen State College. East Idaho News
- ➤ Pocatello’s Delirium haunted attraction is opening this Friday at 805 N. Main St.—it will offer spooky displays and a fun Halloween experience for local visitors. Idaho State Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gate City Coffee (320 W Center Street) is hosting town halls for mayoral and city council candidates; meetings began on Sept 23 and will continue through Oct 11 with sessions starting at 6 pm, live streaming on the venue's Facebook page and seating offered on a first come, first served basis while the venue does not endorse any candidate. - ➤ Governor Brad Little ordered U.S. and Idaho flags to be lowered to half-staff immediately to honor firefighter Isabella Oscarson—who was struck by a falling tree while on duty. The flags will remain lowered until after her memorial service. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
