COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Friends of Marshall Public Library held a seasonal book sale on Friday at the library and support programs with donations and volunteering. The sale continues today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.—books are sold for two dollars each.  Local News 8
  • A local family in Malad City will host a water lantern release at 7 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Devils Creek Reservoir Boat Ramp—honoring their daughter Eve who died in a car accident on Oct. 31 and raising funds for $1000 scholarships for science students.  East Idaho News
  • Air Idaho Rescue was honored at a recognition lunch at Aero Mark hangar at Idaho Falls Regional Airport on September 26 for 35 years of lifesaving service. Bob Hoff recalled nearly losing his grandson 13 years ago and praised the team for their calm, skilled work — a moment that showed how much the community values these emergency heroes.  East Idaho News
  • Today, the 4th annual Lasting Legacy Festival is held at Purce Park on the corner of Fremont and South 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. — Free hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and ice cream are offered and the first 200 guests will receive a Historic Triangle t-shirt.  KPVI
  • The Power County Senior Center now has full freezers after a 1,200-pound donation of meat from local businesses who worked with the Power County 4-H/FFA Fat Stock Sale Committee during the Power County Fair auction + the donation will help cover rising meat costs for daily meals and the Meals of Wheels program for seniors.  Local News 8

CRIME NEWS

  • Bikers from the Hideous Horsemen Motorcycle Club Clean and Sober are riding this weekend from ImPressed Coffee in Pocatello to the courthouse in Blackfoot to support a 10-year-old abuse victim and raise awareness about child sex crimes—organized by sergeant at arms Kregg 'Tiny' Pasey after his relative was abused by Steven Hardee, who awaits sentencing on Monday.  East Idaho News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pocatello officials are considering moving City Hall from North Seventh Avenue to Historic Downtown amid the election season—architects have been asked to study the relocation plan.  Idaho State Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Lookout Field, Highland beat Pocatello Thunder 32-7 as senior linebacker McKay Galo intercepted quarterback Rhev Stucki near field goal range—his play led a 41-yard drive that set up a field goal—giving Highland a 12-7 lead at halftime. Highland moved its win streak to 15 and Pocatello will try to break a three-game slide when they visit Twin Falls next week.  East Idaho News
