- ➤ The Pocatello Car Club will host the Power County Beatdown demolition derby and figure eight racing this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Power County Fairgrounds in American Falls — and a family harvest festival with a car and antique tractor show, monster truck rides, kid activities, and a giveaway of 200 t-shirts will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to benefit Pocatello Youth Motor Sports. - ➤ The fourth annual Pocatello EV Expo will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the south parking lot at the Marshall Public Library, where up to 20 electric vehicles and hybrids will be displayed with owners ready to answer questions—attendees can also learn about tax credits available until September 30. - ➤ The Power County Fairgrounds will host the Family Harvest Festival on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. with a headlining demolition derby called the Power County Beatdown (gates will open at 4 p.m. and it will feature figure 8 racing, live music, and a free T-shirt toss) that will benefit the Pocatello Youth Motorsports program. - ➤ Pocatello’s Saint Vincent de Paul finished a renovation that added 360 square feet to its thrift store and food pantry at 855 South 2nd Avenue. Store manager Beth Huston said the improvements double clothing capacity and support vital services like food and rent assistance—while a new thrift-specific POS system will be installed in October. East Idaho News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Portneuf Greenway Foundation is inviting community members to join monthly meetings starting in October to plan improvements for trails along the Unity Trail and more than 20 miles in Pocatello and Chubbuck. The first meeting— a guided walk at Portneuf Medical Center at 4:30 p.m.— will set the plan template for better trail maintenance. East Idaho News
