- ➤ LA Semiconductor announced Tuesday it put its wafer fabrication facility in Pocatello up for sale—engaging Macquarie Group to handle the marketing of the 31-acre site with more than 57,000 square feet of cleanroom space and additional lab areas—and has yet to release further details. KPVI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Robert Redford attended a preview of his film Jeremiah Johnson at the Chief Theater in Pocatello one month before its national release in 1972—he did so to honor the original author. Idaho State Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Good News Clubs is a weekly after school Bible club for K-5 students held on Mondays at Gate City Elementary and Chubbuck Elementary School; volunteer teachers are background checked to ensure child safety and parents may attend with their children. - ➤ Idaho State University Graduate School hosts its 6th annual book drive to collect 1,000 elementary books for Pocatello and Chubbuck schools, with nearly 100 books already donated since early September. A ribbon cutting takes place today at 5:15 p.m. at the ISU Graduate School Office in partnership with Hares and Hatters Bookshop. KPVI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mark Dahlquist—executive director of NeighborWorks Pocatello—held a gathering Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell Park where he answered questions about affordable housing, a key focus of his mayoral campaign. Seven candidates are competing in the race, with voters set to decide on November 4. KPVI
- ➤ Construction is underway on the Monte Vista to Pocatello Creek Road Pathway Project on the east side of I-15 in Pocatello as crews excavate, backfill, build retaining walls, improve storm drainage, and install ADA ramps along Monte Vista Drive—creating a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists. The project will link nearby residential neighborhoods, Idaho State University, and the Portneuf Wellness Complex and is expected to finish by late 2025 with minimal traffic impact. Local News 8
