CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On September 3, 2025, the Idaho Attorney General’s Office announced that no criminal charges will be filed against the officers involved in the shooting of Victor Perez, and the City of Pocatello said it fully cooperated with the review while offering support to the grieving community. KPVI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Pocatello held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Idaho Department of Correction Community Reentry Center at 6070 South Fifth Avenue, which will serve as a transition center for 100 minimum-custody men without sex-related offenses or pending felony charges—Big D Construction will begin work in the coming weeks and finish the center by next September. - ➤ Southeastern Idaho Public Health and Bannock County Mosquito Abatement confirmed a West Nile Virus–positive mosquito pool in Public Health District 6 on September 2 — no human cases have been reported — and both larval and adult mosquitoes were treated as monitoring and control efforts increased. - ➤ Pocatello nonprofit Hope Rides held the 'Please Just Stay' kickoff event Wednesday night at Lookout Point to share suicide prevention resources during National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.
