ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Idaho State Police investigated a crash from August 28 at 3:27 p.m. on southbound I15 near Blackfoot when a red Toyota lost control and hit a barrier before colliding with a blue Dodge Ram and a Kenworth Semi truck—rescuers took the 21-year-old driver to the hospital and closed the road for about two and a half hours. - ➤ Firefighters battling the Dollar Lake fire have secured 10% containment on its 13,000-acre spread—building new lines on the west and north while protecting the Red Cliff Bible Camp on the south. - ➤ On August 29, 2025, Bannock County Commissioners approved the FY2026 budget amid strong public protests over 14.5% salary raises and cuts to funds for seniors, veterans, and the homeless. The commissioners said they used savings from an unfilled Chief of Staff position to cover the raises and will review nonprofit funding soon—responding to community concerns. - ➤ Pocatello Sanitation trucks will operate as usual on Monday, September 1 and residents with weekday pickups must set their autocarts out by 7 a.m.—the Bannock County Landfill will be closed to the public that day, and trucks will not run on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. - ➤ Officers from the Idaho State Police — Bannock County Sheriff's Office, Chubbuck Police Department and Pocatello police department are increasing patrols in local school zones to target stop arm, speeding and crosswalk violations.
