- ➤ The Portneuf Valley Trails Alliance is hosting its pint night fundraiser today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jim Dandy Brewing in Pocatello + the event will include a silent auction, bike raffle drawing, live music by Cusic Creek Critters, and 10% of beverage sales donated to the nonprofit. KPVI

- ➤ Pocatello police arrested 31-year-old Jamie Lynn O’Brien after a 14-year-old boy’s mother reported his sexual assault by her—resulting in felony charges of lewd conduct with a minor and child sex abuse based on audio evidence and victim statements. East Idaho News

- ➤ The Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel in Fort Hall held its final outdoor concert of the summer season over the weekend as country singer Jake Owen performed hit songs and signed merchandise for fans. - ➤ The Split Top Fire—located 14 miles northwest of Aberdeen—was contained on August 26 after burning over 5,000 acres since it started on Saturday; fire crews from the Bureau of Land Management, Bannock and Power County are investigating the cause. KPVI
- ➤ The Idaho Department of Fish and Game has issued a salvage order for Foster, Glendale, Johnson, and Lamont reservoirs in Franklin County effective August 26 until October 1 to allow anglers to fish without bag, possession, size, or number limits—anglers must follow rules that ban firearms, explosives, chemicals, electric current, and prohibited baits as water levels drop rapidly for irrigation. - ➤ Bannock County commissioners held a public hearing on Tuesday where residents and nonprofit leaders voiced strong opposition to the fiscal year 2026 budget that cuts $43,000 from the Veterans' Memorial Building and fully defunds Aid for Friends—critics said these changes and a proposed 14% raise for commissioners hurt local services. The board will review the feedback on Thursday at 9 a.m. Local News 8
- ➤ Bannock County residents filled the commissioners chamber on August 26th to protest the FY2026 budget that would increase their salaries by 14.5% while cutting funds for seniors, veterans, and the homeless—Chairman Jeff Hough said no decisions were made then and comments will be discussed at a meeting on August 28th.
