The first-ever Pocatello Potato Festival will be held on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Museum of Clean and My World Discovery located at 711 South 2nd Ave.—The event features a potato derby, live music by Michael Paul and Steelhead Redd, eight food trucks with free french fries from Simplot, and a potato-themed scavenger hunt to engage visitors of all ages.
🎓 Education
Dr. Douglas Howell, superintendent of PCSD 25, was honored with the ISSA District Leadership Award on August 21st for his over 30 years of service and his swift, fiscally responsible response after the Highland High fire in 2023.
He has also driven the expansion of career and technical education by securing the Portneuf Valley Technical Education and Career Campus—boosting hands-on training for local learners.
A Fred Meyer associate in Pocatello said that expo dry erase markers—and particularly college ruled notebooks—are in high demand as children get ready for back-to-school.
The store noted that glue, binders, crayons, markers, hand sanitizer, and backpacks are also selling fast.

Federal funding cuts stripped Pocatello of $24.5M in critical infrastructure grants—forcing officials to shelve major projects.
The Idaho Supreme Court reinstated a $21 million lawsuit against Pocatello and Northgate developers — the decision reopens a challenge over a disputed land deal.
