- ➤ The City of Pocatello announced that a new Connections Credit Union clubhouse is planned for Riverside Golf Course at 3500 Bannock Highway under a 20-year agreement—design work is underway by Construction Services, Inc. and the nearly 80-year-old clubhouse will be taken down after the new building opens in 2026. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ Connections Credit Union and the City of Pocatello have partnered on a 20-year agreement to build a new clubhouse at Riverside Golf Course—this modern facility will offer 3,300 square feet of main floor, a full basement for golf carts, patio seating and a golf simulator that will replace the 80-year-old barn. Construction Services, Inc. is designing the project and the clubhouse will open in 2026 with the old building demolished soon after. Local News 8
- ➤ The Portneuf Greenway Foundation said that Andrzej and Teresa Abraszewski donated $50,000 to build a new trail linking Simplot/Swanson and Abraszewski trails with Pacific Recycling Trailhead, Sacajawea Park and Historic Downtown in honor of their late son, Dr. Paul Abraszewski, who died in a kayaking accident. Officials said plans for groundbreaking and design details will be announced soon—community leaders praised the donation as a lasting tribute. East Idaho News

- ➤ Joshua Adrian Martinez, 18, was charged with aggravated battery after a house party shooting in Chubbuck on Aug. 9 when he allegedly brandished his firearm and fled in a black truck — police recovered a Glock and ammunition from the scene — and he now faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. East Idaho News
- ➤ A Fort Hall man was arrested Monday night at a Motel 6 in Chubbuck after a standoff with police—he allegedly beat a woman who was treated at a hospital and now faces charges of felony domestic battery, resisting arrest, obstructing an investigation and failing to appear for a marijuana possession charge. - ➤ The City of Pocatello is hosting its annual Portneuf River Cleanup on Saturday, August 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pacific Recycling Trailhead — volunteers will remove trash and invasive materials along the riverbank from Raymond Park to Simplot. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

- ➤ Pocatello will hold its general election in November to choose a mayor and council members for seats four, five and six. The first day to file candidacy is August 18th at 8:00 a.m.—forms are available at City Hall with a filing deadline of August 29th at 5:00 p.m. KPVI
- ➤ Today, the City of Pocatello said work on parks, trails and the Portneuf River will start over the next two years to improve access for swimmers and floaters—projects include a new river access point at the Greenway Trailhead this fall and levee work near Centennial/Rainey Park beginning in 2026. Other projects include extending a local trail along I-15, adding three restroom facilities and launching a Forest Service wildfire fuels reduction program to remove juniper trees from fire-prone lands.
