Good morning, Pocatello.
🏘️ Community
On Saturday, the 65th annual Chubbuck Days brought the community together with a parade featuring local businesses (mascots, themed floats, in-line skating, and more) and a festival at Cotant Park with vendors, food trucks, and a police dunk tank benefiting the DARE program.
🌲 Environment
Fort Hall firefighters quickly contained a brush fire Friday evening west of Chubbuck before it reached a propane tank.
Firefighters have held the McPherson Fire east of Grace nearly at the same size since it ignited Friday evening & officials credit the sheltering effect of nearby maple trees and the team’s timely response for keeping the blaze manageable.
Firefighters are battling a 225-acre wildfire three miles east of Grace that started Friday evening on private land and spread onto federal property.
They aim to contain the blaze today at 6 p.m. and urge the public to avoid the area + prepare for gusty winds under Red Flag conditions.
