COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Crews are working to repair a broken main line along Hawthorne Road near Bonanza Avenue—several homes remain without water—and officials said the fix will not affect Chubbuck Days.  Idaho State Journal
  • Work is underway on Legacy Park, a nearly 5-acre project at Iron Bend Dr. on the east bench, as the Parks and Rec Department has closed the area—blocking foot traffic, ATVs, and motorized vehicles—to complete final grading and grass seeding this summer; the city will add paved trails, a parking lot, and a playground in spring.  Local News 8

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A truck driver with MVP Rentals narrowly avoided being hit Tuesday when the semi-truck in front hit Porterville Road Bridge—sending a backhoe cartwheeling over her truck—while she carried porta potties to an event in Fort Hall, and Interstate 15 reopened later that night.  East Idaho News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 is set to welcome learners on August 27 with new elementary registration on August 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.—families must bring a birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence and review updated enrollment maps, while middle and high school schedule pick-up occurs on August 13 and 14 and back-to-school nights are planned for the week of August 25.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews with the City of Chubbuck are working to repair a water main break on Hawthorne Rd that has flooded parts of the area and left most residents with low water pressure—this issue could disrupt the Chubbuck Days parade and today's Movies in the Park event.  Local News 8
  • The Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce held its annual Breakfast with the Governor on Wednesday at the ICCU Alumni Center in Pocatello, where Governor Brad Little spoke about Idaho’s economy and education plus the successful Launch program that helps cover tuition fees. After the event, he headed back to Boise for an apprenticeship event and traveled to Cascade for mining industry training.  KPVI
