COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Parrish Family 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament began on Aug. 1 and continues today in the north parking lot of the ICCU Dome to honor Bill, Ross, Keegan and Liam Parrish, who died in a 2014 carbon monoxide incident. Organized by the Chubbuck Lions Club and the No C.O. Foundation, the event offers free carbon monoxide detectors, food trucks and family activities—promoting safety in the community.  East Idaho News
  • Bannock County’s at-risk youth center, The Village: A Place for Youth and Families, received the 2025 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties for its innovative counseling and diversion programs that since opening in 2023 have helped over 600+ local kids and contributed to a 43% drop in juvenile court filings. Director Matt Olsen said strong teamwork with local agencies has been key to expanding the center’s services.  Local News 8

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded on Friday when the Rio Vista Fire broke out near Fort Hall Reservation and burned sagebrush, triggering road closures (eastbound Sheepskin, eastbound Bench, and westbound Philbin) while no structures were threatened.  KPVI

CRIME NEWS

  • Police are searching for endangered missing adult Linda Zweigart, 67, who was last seen on July 30 at 8:30 a.m. near Mink Creek Rd in Pocatello while driving a grey 2017 Hyundai Tucson with plate 10EDT and without her needed medication and oxygen—if you have information, call the Bannock County Sheriff's Office at 208-236-7111.  KPVI
  • The Bannock County Sheriff's office is looking for 67-year-old Linda Zweigart, last seen on Mink Creek Rd in Pocatello and described as 5 ft 7 in and 182 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes—she may be traveling in a grey 2017 Hyundai Tucson with Idaho Plate 10EDT, and anyone with info should call 911 or 208-236-7111.  Local News 8

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho State University experts say high summer heat is stressing fish by lowering oxygen in the water and altering wildlife routines, with Pocatello anglers urged to handle catches gently—measures that may help prevent fish kills and give animals a better chance to build winter reserves. Wildlife now moves early in the morning and later in the day to avoid the heat.  KPVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Monday, the Intermountain Gas Company will begin replacing gas lines on Yellowstone Avenue and Siphon Road in Chubbuck (road closures will occur with detours via Abraham Street and Eden Street). Siphon Road is expected to reopen (around August 15th).  KPVI
