- ➤ Museum of Clean will host the first Pocatello Potato Festival on Saturday, August 23. The free event (partnered with Simplot and local sponsors) at 711 S. 2nd Ave (featuring a potato car derby, food trucks, live music, kids' activities, a beer garden and free french fries) will celebrate Idaho’s world-class potatoes. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pocatello police arrested a suspect after responding to a report of multiple shots fired at an occupied vehicle on the 4800 block of Navajo Street on July 30 just before 8:30 p.m.—officials say the investigation is continuing. Idaho State Journal
- ➤ Two Pocatello residents—31-year-old Jerica Ann Hall and 37-year-old Brian Stuart Wilcken—were arrested on July 13 after they allegedly fired multiple rounds inside a home believing unwanted people were there; officers responded to a 3:30 a.m. call on the 2000 block of Horizon Drive that led to a SWAT response, and charges include felony unlawful discharge, controlled substance possession, with Wilcken also facing felony battery on a law enforcement officer while court hearings are set for August 4 and August 13. - ➤ Thursday night, Idaho State University students presented their Emergency Management Case Studies Symposium after they traveled to Japan to tour the Fukushima disaster site 14 years after the meltdown.
