- ➤ The Salvation Army Pocatello Corps will launch a back-to-school donation drive by placing collection bins at Fred Meyer on August 1 to accept school supplies for local K-12 students in need+ Bryan Makowski said the donated items will be sorted into kits for families and include pens, pencils, notebooks, and corded headphones. - ➤ East Idaho history is recalled as a 1913 private detective was arrested in Blackfoot on suspicion of setting fire to county attorney C. Douglas Smith's home after a railroad man spotted a small blaze+ in 1932 a Grace man faced charges for wife desertion and bigamy after leaving his family for California, while later a 1959 truck accident in Burley left four people with slight injuries and a 1977 Pocatello man, Craig E.C. Palmer, was charged with drunk driving and escaping after a parking lot collision. East Idaho News

- ➤ The Marshall Public Library will collect school supplies for Pocatello and Chubbuck School District students from August 1 to September 13 — accepting items such as pencils, notebooks, paper, backpacks, shampoo, soap, lotion, and deodorant — and new, unopened goods can be dropped off at the library's front desk. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bannock County Road and Bridges reported that working crews closed off Old Highway 91 between Inkom and McCammon on July 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—they replaced the upper Rock Creek Culvert and the project was designed to be completed in one day. KPVI
- ➤ Idaho hunters who successfully drew tags for controlled hunts in the Southeast Region must buy their tags by Friday, August 1 before unclaimed tags move to the second drawing pool. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game said the pool will open for new applications on August 5—results for the second drawing will be available on August 26. Local News 8
