COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Molinelli's Jewelers will host a community block party on August 9 from 6 to 10 p.m.—the event will stretch along the 100 and 200 blocks of North Main St in Historic Downtown Pocatello with live music from Gas Food and Lodging, food and drinks served, raffles held, and donations accepted for the Idaho Foodbank.  KPVI
  • Ronald Diaz—whose family began restoring his 1956 Ford Fairlane 30 years ago—showed off the car at a show held last Saturday at the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel in Fort Hall in memory of his step-dad; hundreds gathered to view the 69-year-old vehicle, which still runs.  KPVI

  • Two local Pocatello artists have enhanced properties owned by the city with new mural projects as part of the public art boom accompanying the city rebranding. The artwork may boost tourism - reflecting a tradition where the artists leave their initials on public displays - and adds a colorful touch to the community.  Idaho State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Idaho State University received a $520,000 gift from Direct Communications Rockland, Inc. to build the new Direct Communications Esports Arena on campus. The groundbreaking will occur in Fall 2025 and the arena will be completed by January 1, with the facility serving as a hub for the growing esports program — supporting enhanced digital learning and community engagement.  Local News 8
  • Idaho State University in Pocatello announced a new state-of-the-art Direct Communications Esports Arena—funded by a $520,000 gift from Direct Communications Rockland, Inc.—that will serve as the hub for its growing Esports program. The project will break ground this Fall and is set for completion on Jan. 1, 2026.  East Idaho News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission donated $100,000 to non-profit groups to support local wildlife projects, with about $10,000 helping groups in Southeast Idaho such as Blackfoot River Bowmen and the National Wild Turkey Federation. The Commission will accept grant applications next March and April.  KPVI

  • Fred Meyer pharmacies in Pocatello offer back-to-school vaccines to help parents immunize their children with options for tetanus, measles, mumps and rubella, polio, flu, and covid.
