  • The new Optimist Skate Park in Pocatello opened with a 12:15 p.m. ribbon cutting on Friday as skateboarding advocate David Van Etten and Parks and Recreation director Anne Butler celebrated its completion—its 7,000 to 8,000 square feet include a skating bowl, ramps, ledges and banks designed to serve local skateboarders for decades.  East Idaho News

  • Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion, ZZ Top, Darius Rucker + Mudvayne will perform during a summer concert series at the Portneuf Health Trust in Pocatello, bringing a burst of rock energy to the local scene.  Idaho State Journal

  • A local non-profit called Bicycles for Recovery is helping people get back on their feet by repairing donated bikes to support recovery from addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges—holding raffles today at the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market in Pocatello and accepting bike and monetary donations.  KPVI

SPORTS NEWS

  • Idaho State University Football held its first fall camp practice on Wednesday at the newly renovated ICCU Practice Field in Pocatello — players focused on drills and fundamentals. Head Coach Cody Hawkins said the team will use this training to prepare for their season opener on August 23 at UNLV's Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas — building on a transition from summer practices.  Local News 8
