COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The new Optimist Skate Park is holding its grand opening today at 12:15 p.m. at 972 North 7th Avenue—covering 7,000 to 8,000 square feet with ramps, stairs, ledges, rails and a 41-foot bowl, the park was funded by American Rescue Plan Act funds and a $25,000 donation and will also unveil a memorial honoring local skateboard enthusiast Chevy Nichols.  KPVI
  • 12-year-old Kimber Berger from Chubbuck is running his family’s lemonade stand on Stuart Avenue to raise funds for a national jiu-jitsu competition in Las Vegas on August 26. He is nearly at his $500 goal and needs about $200 more while inviting neighbors to enjoy fresh lemonade.  Local News 8
  • SRD's Traveling Animals will host its Wild Reptile Adventure event at Jungle ReTreat Ice Cream in Pocatello on Saturday, July 26th, allowing residents to interact with rescued snakes, lizards, and turtles and learn proper reptile care from owner Nikki Jorgenson — who said the rescue has seen a rise in reptile intakes over the past five years. Two shows will run at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and $10 tickets include a scoop of ice cream — offering an engaging, hands-on experience for families.  Local News 8

CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies from the Sweet Grass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Greg Sisneros—a person of interest in an Idaho murder case—in Montana on Tuesday; he remains uncharged in connection with the homicide from June 24th and is wanted on warrants from Lemhi County and possibly Butte.  KPVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game offices have made the 2025 Idaho National Lab Hunting Pass available for hunters with elk or pronghorn tags to access the approved INL huntable area (the pass includes a new map showing an 80 square mile expansion while other portions of the lab remain closed).  KPVI

  • ISU’s 75-year-old rugby coach continues to teach tackles as he leads his team into its 30th season—despite facing occupational hazards. He remains a dedicated leader actively training his players.  Idaho State Journal
