COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Bannock County will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 4 at 5 p.m. for its new Exhibit Hall at the Fairgrounds in Downey. The building replaces four condemned halls and will feature 4-H displays, artwork, quilts, and local crafts plus host light refreshments and a free Potato Bar at 6 p.m. during the fair. Local News 8
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two people were taken to a hospital after a house fire at 444 Michael Ave. in Pocatello early Monday and police said firefighters evacuated an unresponsive elderly woman, an elderly man, and rescued a dog—damage is estimated at $50,000 while the cause remains under investigation. Local News 8
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ After an ambush in late June left two Coeur D'Alene firefighters dead and one injured while responding to a fire, Pocatello Fire Department joined 15 other departments — totaling 70 firefighters statewide — by sending six members north so crews could attend funerals. KPVI
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Save Our Schools Idaho is hosting town hall meetings to explain how voucher programs may hurt public schools. The events run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.—Monday in Blackfoot at the Bingham County Senior Center, today in Pocatello at the ISU Pond Student Union Building, and Wednesday in Soda Springs at City Hall with local educators and officials answering questions. - ➤ Pocatello City Hall now shows a new painted logo—completed by local artist Josh Pohlman on July 14 after two weeks of work—and city officials say it promotes community spirit. Local artist Nick Hottmann also updated artwork at Ross Park Aquatic Complex. KPVI
