- ➤ United Way of Southeast Idaho will host a Read-Talk-Play charity event + a local baseball team will join the event to support community causes. KPVI
- ➤ The nearly 100-year-old Bannock County Veteran’s Memorial Building lost its upstairs floor last December when a burst pipe exposed a weak subfloor and lead paint. The Veterans Memorial Association is raising funds—with an anonymous donor contributing $100,000 and promising another $100,000 in matching funds if equal donations are received by the end of August—to restore the historic building. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pocatello resident Jack Edward Newsom, 43, was sentenced today to 121 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine — he will serve five years of supervised release after he completes his sentence. Local News 8

- ➤ Air tankers helped firefighters gain control of two large wildfires burning in Southeast Idaho this week — their sorties stopped the fires from spreading further. Idaho State Journal

- ➤ The I-86 and I-15—Flying Y Interchange Project in Pocatello is nearly complete after three years of work and will soon improve travel on major routes. KPVI

- ➤ CGA Academy Soccer Club from Pocatello won the U.S. Youth Soccer National President’s Cup in Tampa with a 3-1 victory over a Chicago club—marking the first national title for a girls youth soccer team from eastern Idaho. East Idaho News
