ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday night, a 31-year-old man from Blackfoot died when his silver 2003 Honda Accord lost control on I-15 near milepost 73 north of Chubbuck and hit unoccupied vehicles including a red 2019 Ford F-150, a CAT tractor blade and a CAT front-end loader—he was not buckled and was thrown from his car, blocking the lane for two hours.  East Idaho News

  • Juan Huícar and Lupe Villanueva will soon celebrate the first anniversary of Los Gavilanes Mexican Grill’s Chubbuck location at 140 West Chubbuck Road—following the success of their Blackfoot restaurant that has served locals since 2021. The couple offers a range of popular dishes such as the Seafood Tower and Molcajete Mexicano and a full bar to enhance the dining experience.  East Idaho News
  • Around 50 local businesses gathered at Highland Golf Course for the Chamber of Commerce’s 29th annual Golf Scramble on Friday (teams competed for prizes such as grills, tools, and gift baskets) to boost local networking.  Local News 8

  • A Pocatello native, who once served as a local news anchor, has been chosen for a role as a news anchor in the new Superman movie directed by James—her casting marks a celebrated return to broadcasting. The film is in production and brings local pride to our community.  Idaho State Journal
  • Suzanne Hobbs, a Pocatello native and former news reporter, became the real-life Lois Lane when she acted as a news anchor in the new Superman movie; she canceled a vacation to take the audition early last year. She later went to Atlanta for a cast screening—director James Gunn and stars like John Cena and Nicholas Hoult praised her authentic performance.  East Idaho News
  • Shady Grove Music Camp returns to FMC Park next weekend for its sixth year—bringing nearly 30 performers from across Idaho and other states to create lasting memories for the community.  Idaho State Journal

  • Officials from Pocatello and Chubbuck broke ground in Chubbuck on July 11 for a new urgent care facility built by Portneuf Health—located near Bullock Street in a busy retail area—that will treat common, non-life-threatening conditions with on-site imaging and lab services. Construction is underway and the clinic is expected to open in early 2026.  East Idaho News
