ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Police, church members and neighborhood residents stopped a brush fire in north Pocatello Tuesday night from reaching nearby structures — firefighters arrived in time to put it out.  Idaho State Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was arrested after a woman reported a kidnapping and assault during a home intrusion, with Sam Sailiata (27) facing charges for first-degree stalking, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and grand theft and booked on a ($50,000) bond pending a preliminary hearing on July 14.  East Idaho News
  • Bingham County authorities are searching for Kelly Archibald, an older white man with grey hair and a goatee who was last seen in Logan on June 26th after his vehicle was found abandoned near Coffee Point on June 27th—his family is assisting in today's coordinated search.  KPVI
  • A known drug dealer—Kevin Kelly Bissegger—was arrested in Pocatello after police sent an undercover informant to arrange a small fentanyl powder purchase behind a bar on West Clark Street on April 8; he faces felony delivery charges and is set for a preliminary hearing on July 10.  East Idaho News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country music star Billy Currington is coming to Pocatello when he will perform at the Portneuf Health Trust Amphitheater this Saturday — he is known for platinum hits like People Are Crazy and Good Directions — and fans are expected to join the event.  KPVI
  • Local music legends Steve Eaton and Mike Sanders will perform at Neon Fest at Lookout Point on Saturday, July 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.—Mike Sanders, returning as a special guest with a softer voice, will join Eaton for a homecoming set led by Historic Downtown Pocatello Inc.  East Idaho News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty-one local education agencies, including Pocatello-Chubbuck School District, will receive a three-year grant to fund School Resource Officers, backed by the Idaho Legislature and Millennium Fund. Twelve districts will have their first SROs and must form partnerships with local law enforcement—officials say the funding brings peace of mind to parents, staff and students.  Local News 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bannock County Office of Emergency Management warned that summer power outages from high winds and wildfires may leave residents, especially the elderly and children, in danger of heat. Director Wes Jones advised locals to prepare a 72-hour kit, turn off breakers, and keep freezers closed (more tips are on the Sheriff's Office app).  Local News 8
