  • A woman was charged with drunk driving after her car struck a parked SUV — police closed a busy Pocatello street for over an hour.  Idaho State Journal
  • Police arrested a 27-year-old man in Pocatello early this morning—he allegedly stole a woman’s gun and used it to hold her captive.  Idaho State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pocatello is set to host its first Neon Fest on July 11th and 12th, with a Friday art walk and guided neon sign tour starting at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday events including food trucks, neon drinks, kids' activities, live performances, a movie screening of Cars, plus an announcement for the next neon sign restoration project.  KPVI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rainy weather this holiday weekend lowered the chance of major fires from Independence Day fireworks in eastern Idaho—Pocatello fire officials reported only minor calls such as dumpster and small brush fires, with damp conditions helping to cool potential hazards. Officials cautioned that although the rain reduced risk, people should remain careful as later weather may not offer the same protection.  East Idaho News
  • The Pocatello Fire Department warns that unauthorized drone flights over active wildfires will ground firefighting operations — endangering pilots and crews and possibly leading to fines and criminal charges.  KPVI
