COMMUNITY NEWS

  • KPVI reported that local businesses were featured at the Bannock County July 4th celebration that brought festive activities to the area— a sign of strong local participation.  KPVI
  • Pocatello local group Gate City Singles, founded by Becky Koyle, offers weekly events for adults and families and has grown to over 600 members in four months. A five-day singles retreat will take place in Lava Hot Springs July 10–14—additional family campouts are planned for later.  East Idaho News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • East Idaho experienced multiple wildfires in June that scorched thousands of acres—forcing evacuations and destroying homes. With scorching summer temperatures and drought conditions persisting, residents brace for a severe wildfire season.  Idaho State Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Suicide prevention advocate Melissa Schrade lost her daughter three years ago and is hosting a Shakespeare-inspired fundraiser called A Midsummer Night’s Revue to honor her memory and raise funds for Community Suicide Prevention. The event will be held Friday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Leavitt Center—1030 East Sublette in Pocatello.  East Idaho News
