ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on I-15 near Inkom in a one-lane construction zone on Friday afternoon caused traffic to back up for miles when a semi-truck tried to change lanes over a bridge around 12:09 p.m.—Idaho State Police said no one was seriously hurt and advised drivers to take alternate routes until the road reopens.  East Idaho News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 Board of Trustees adopted a new policy on June 17 (limiting cellphone use in all schools) that will soon be enforced districtwide.  Idaho State Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Power activated enhanced powerline safety settings in high wildfire-risk areas to prevent fires as dry vegetation spreads in southern Idaho—customers are urged to update contact information and plan for longer outages. The new settings, implemented on June 26, come as cooler weather has not stopped vegetation from drying out.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pocatello Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at 911 North 7th Avenue to gather community input on updates to the Sensitive Lands Overlay (section 17.04.170). Residents may review the application materials by contacting the Planning & Development Services Department.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
