- ➤ Chase Anthony Fernandez, a 33-year-old man who was heavily intoxicated, was arrested Monday afternoon at a hotel on the 1400 block of Bench Road after he struck a hotel worker and bit an officer — he now faces charges of felony aggravated battery and felony battery of a law enforcement officer and is set for a preliminary hearing on July 8 at 1:15 p.m.—. - ➤ The Pocatello Fire Department warned residents on June 24th to use only safe fireworks like sparklers and poppers in designated areas this 4th of July to prevent wildfires after a recent fire on West Clark Street — illegal aerial fireworks are banned to protect dry vegetation. - ➤ Gov. Brad Little will join the Idaho Community Foundation in selecting winners for the $200M Moment: Make More Good Possible campaign (which awards grants to local charities) and the process will boost local support. Post Register
- ➤ The City of Pocatello Water Department began replacing the water main on South Arthur Avenue between West Whitman and West Terry on June 25—residents are asked to park away from the area since temporary street closures and water disruptions may occur. Crews work Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the project is expected to take about eight weeks. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ Local fire officials will enforce a burn ban in Bannock County starting July 1st to reduce wildfire risk by prohibiting open burning and aerial fireworks in areas where wildland meets urban development—commercial gas fire pits, gas grills and charcoal briquettes are exempt. The ban will remain in effect until October 1st or until conditions improve. KPVI
