  • After 40 years serving Marsh Valley, owners Terry and Michelle Jones are retiring—an open house will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Valley Oil Company on 114 South U.S. Highway 91 as new owners take over with all staff and phone numbers remaining unchanged.  East Idaho News

  • A Pocatello man was tased multiple times by a state trooper during a DUI stop, fled and crashed into Love's truck stop facilities+ now faces several felony charges.  Idaho State Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pocatello and Idaho Falls will mark Juneteenth with music, food, and cultural activities that honor the end of slavery. In Pocatello, the NAACP is hosting a family event at the Senior Activity Center on June 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.—while Idaho Falls holds free festivals on June 14 and June 19.  East Idaho News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bannock County is using the new Sheriffs app to send quick emergency alerts and guide residents with disaster preparedness tips—providing faster weather notifications and detailed safety guidelines. Director Wes Jones said the app will help the county reach the community more quickly during emergencies.  Local News 8

HEALTH NEWS

  • A local woman, Amanda Christian, recalled that her 15-year-old son, Jorden Breen, lost his life in a car accident two days before Christmas 2021 when he was heading to work and help his cousin; he donated his kidneys, pancreas, liver and heart to give five people a second chance at life. The annual Gift of Life walk-run for organ donations will be held on Saturday, June 28 at the Portneuf Wellness Complex—organizers said the event will honor his legacy.  KPVI
  • Gateway Transitional Care Center broke ground on Thursday on the site for its new Vent/Trach Unit + Outpatient Therapy Gym that will be finished in late summer to help local patients receive mechanical breathing support and rehabilitation services in the Portneuf Valley.  Local News 8
  • Jen Robinson is organizing the Walk to Defeat ALS tomorrow at the Portneuf Wellness Complex to honor her father Brent Edmonds and cousin Darron Funk who both battled the disease. Participants will check in at 10:30 a.m. before the one-mile walk begins at noon — the event will offer music, food and community activities to support ALS research.  East Idaho News

  • The City of Pocatello Parks and Recreation Department invites Junior Jazz players and the public to meet Utah Jazz player Oscar Tshiebwe on Wednesday, June 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Irving Middle School (911 N. Grant Avenue), where he will share his NBA journey, answer questions and host a brief basketball clinic. Delta Air Lines will donate two free Jazz tickets to youth and Junior Jazz players and the first 50 to RSVP will receive a free t-shirt.  Local News 8
