COMMUNITY NEWS

  • NeighborWorks Pocatello is hosting the annual 'Pay-it-Forward Community Celebration' this Thursday, June 4, at Caldwell Park from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Neighbors enjoy free hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and potted flowers in exchange for a positive pledge (Clarissa Jackman hopes the event will rebuild local connections).  KPVI
  • The Portneuf Greenway paved trail and parking lot on Abraszewski Trail will be closed from Sunday, June 7 through Thursday, June 11 for seal coating work. The closure is part of City efforts to ensure safe, enjoyable recreation (per the Comprehensive Plan 2040).  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • Local nonprofits opened a 12,000 sqft facility today in Blackfoot to support foster families across East Idaho built with donated labor + materials and community goodwill.  Idaho State Journal

  • On May 29, Bannock County posted job openings in Pocatello for a 4-H Service Assistant, Accountant and Payroll Specialist, Seasonal Laborer and other roles in appraisal, prosecution and maintenance.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

HEALTH NEWS

  • Following a mild winter, University Extension educator Reed Findlay said tick populations are rising locally and advised residents to wear long sleeves, avoid tall grass, and check themselves, children (and pets) for ticks when spending time outdoors today.  East Idaho News
