ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A three-year-old girl died Saturday afternoon after being run over by a red Dodge Ram pickup in a Costco parking lot, police said — investigators are still looking into the incident.  East Idaho News
  • A young girl was struck by a pickup truck — the accident happened Saturday afternoon in the Costco parking lot in north Pocatello.  Idaho State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Brad Little announced on May 23 that U.S. and state flags will be flown at half-staff on Monday, May 26 from sunrise until noon at the state capitol and other government buildings to honor service members who died in action.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • Idaho State Police is honoring veterans and increasing patrols this Memorial Day weekend—drivers are urged to slow down, stay sober and watch for distractions as the 100 Deadliest Days begin.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • Governor Brad Little has declared Safe Driver Week from today through May 31 to cut risky driving behaviors including distracting+impaired+drowsy+aggressive driving and failure to wear a seat belt. AAA Idaho launched the campaign to lower road deaths and injuries as the state enters its 100 Deadliest Days.  East Idaho News
  • The City of Pocatello Sanitation Department will run collection trucks as normal on Memorial Day—May 26, with residents asked to place their City autocarts out by 7 a.m. Garbage, recycling, and yard waste pickups will follow the usual schedule, but the Bannock County Landfill will be closed to the public that day.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
