- ➤ The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and community members held a groundbreaking on Wednesday for a new 67,000 sqft recreation center at Fort Hall & it will offer a space for youth activities and events with construction starting in 2027 and finishing early 2028. KPVI
- ➤ On Thursday, May 21, the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics passed through Pocatello; Mayor Mark Dahlquist, law enforcement officers + Special Olympics athletes carried the Flame of Hope from Idaho State University's Frazier Hall to Caldwell Park. East Idaho News
- ➤ The ICCU Splashpad at OK Ward Park will open tomorrow, May 23, with hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It offers nearly 3,000 sqft of water features for toddlers and older kids next to Brooklyn’s Playground. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ Idahoans reached 250,000 acts of service through the America250 in Idaho Service Challenge, with volunteers from 166 cities including nearly 100,000 in Idaho Falls. - ➤ The Idaho Field of Heroes Memorial will return in Pocatello this Memorial Day weekend to honor fallen service members; local organizers plan tributes plus special displays that invite community reflection. Idaho State Journal
- ➤ The Experimental Breeder Reactor-I Atomic Museum opens today with free admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Labor Day; it is located 50 miles west of Idaho Falls on U.S. Highway 20 and marks the 75th anniversary of producing the first usable nuclear electricity in 1951. - ➤ Pocatello High School Honors Biology students will host a science night on May 27 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the high school Commons, where students will share original biology experiments plus chat with 20 local scientists from Idaho State University and the Department of Environmental Quality. - ➤ Pocatello-Chubbuck School District 25 reached a new teacher contract agreement for the 2026-2027 school year — district leaders noted flat state funding and rising costs; the deal will support educators and help stabilize school operations in the coming months. Idaho State Journal
