  • Pocatello will host its annual Independence Day parade on July 4 at 9:30 a.m. as the Budweiser Clydesdales, along with three semi-trucks carrying equipment, wagons, horses, and a dalmatian—set to lead the event with Idaho Central Credit Union—are expected to participate.  KPVI
  • On May 31, the City of Pocatello and Zoo Idaho will offer free all-day zoo admission for the community—sponsored by Connections Credit Union.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local classic car restoration business Badass Glass lost its body shop in a fire on May 13 when owner Jordan Miller’s son spotted the blaze near the shop — firefighters put out the fire but could not save tools and vehicles like a 1966 Chevy pickup and two Volkswagen Beetles. Supporters have helped through a GoFundMe page that has raised over $1,000 — Miller said he is working to clean up and get back on his feet.  Local News 8

CRIME NEWS

  • A former Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 employee, William Strength (43), was indicted on May 13 for allegedly sending and downloading child pornography from his Kik account; he faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.  East Idaho News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city of McCammon issued a boil order until today at 5 p.m.—crews are working to fix a failed well pump that led to low water pressure and a 10-12 hour water shutoff in the townsite.  East Idaho News

HEALTH NEWS

  • On May 30, the American Red Cross will open a new six bed blood donation center — replacing its former location — at 4233 Yellowstone Ave. in the Pine Ridge Shopping Center to serve local donors. The current site will continue collecting blood until May 27 and the new center will operate Mondays from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Local News 8

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Bannock County Assessor Anita Hymas announced that assessed values for commercial and residential properties will rise in 2025—reflecting new market data and ensuring compliance with state standards, though tax bills will be set later based on budget decisions. Property owners will receive notices by the first Monday in June and may appeal their assessments until June 23 at 5 p.m.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

  • Highland’s Kaulana 'Lana' Alvarico committed to play baseball at Treasure Valley Community College on Tuesday after two standout seasons in football and baseball at Highland High School—coach Christian Colonel praised his versatility and strong baseball IQ, noting he will serve as a utility player who can fill any role on the team.  East Idaho News
