COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Marshall Public Library has partnered with The Idaho Foodbank to relaunch its Garden to Give program, inviting residents to drop off extra garden produce at the library from June through October. Donations will help support families in need.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
  • Two local motorcycle clubs will host a free bicycle giveaway for kids this Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. at OK Ward Park in Chubbuck — partnering with Boise Bike Shop to donate bikes while supplies last.  East Idaho News

  • Local drone company Titan Batteries opened its new headquarters (and manufacturing facility) earlier this month on International Drone Day in Pocatello.  Idaho State Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Idaho farmers are set to plant about 4.16 million acres of principal crops this season, up 2–4% from 2025, despite challenges with water shortages and high costs (USDA report published May 12).  East Idaho News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 10, eighth grade students wore safety goggles and protective gear at the Energy Innovation Laboratory during INL’s My Amazing Future event. The program showed students from various communities that hands-on STEM learning can turn curiosity into a science career.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bannock County officials announced the burn ban will start on June 1 in response to high fire risk; residents in fire-prone areas are urged to clear excess fuels and contact local fire districts if a controlled burn is needed.  Local News 8

HEALTH NEWS

  • Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center hosted a Stop the Bleed training event Monday that taught life-saving techniques and helped motorcyclist Fred King, injured in a 2024 accident, meet responders. Free classes will be available on May 18 at North Idaho Falls E.R. and June 25 at EIRMC (for anyone ready to learn).  KPVI

  • The Pocatello Bandits will host a state lacrosse tournament this weekend as they chase their first title in a contest that brings homegrown teams together.  Idaho State Journal
