- ➤ The 121-year-old First Congregational United Church of Christ at 309 North Garfield was sold to Christ’s Love Vineyard as its congregation voted to disband and members plan to join other local churches. A farewell service will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m. (church traditions such as the First Friday organ concerts and emergency shelter services will continue under new ownership). - ➤ Firefighters fought a severe fire in the Michaud Creek area of Fort Hall last night that started at a mobile home and quickly spread to nearby fields and buildings, destroying one mobile home and badly damaging another while two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion — officials say the cause is under investigation. - ➤ A new fire station opened Friday in McCammon and now houses fire and EMS crews, a Sheriff's Office substation, city offices, and a command center for emergencies—marking a major step to improve public safety in Marsh Valley. The facility began construction in April with funding from a Community Development Block Grant, ARPA funds, a $1.25 million bond, and other sources. KPVI
- ➤ On May 9th, Representative David Leavitt compared outdated trade policies like the Chicken Tax with Idaho’s unending state commissions such as the Potato Commission, arguing that temporary supports have become permanent burdens.
