- ➤ Pocatello Animal Services will host a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the animal shelter at 3100 Avenue of the Chiefs; vaccinations cost $10 each (cash or check only) while pet licenses will be offered at half-price and microchipping will cost $22.50 (tax included). - ➤ A wildfire on the Fort Hall Reservation—starting in the Michaud Creek area—destroyed one mobile home, severely damaged another, and injured two firefighters, with full control expected around 9:00 p.m. Idaho State Journal
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two men were sentenced in separate fentanyl distribution cases in eastern Idaho—32-year-old David Erik Traversa from Utah received 156 months and a five-year supervised release while 38-year-old Casey Steven Evans from Pocatello got 60 months and a five-year supervised release, following investigations that began in May 2024, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott. - ➤ Kids Constitution Camp will run from June 9-13 at Calvary Chapel on Olympus Dr in Pocatello for 7-12-year-olds to learn about America's founding through hands-on classes, games, spy techniques & musical activities. - ➤ The Bannock County Courthouse has opened a new parking lot (20 spaces) on North 6th Avenue between East Clark and Center Street and added an ADA ramp at the elections office to improve access and security. - ➤ Dry, windy summer weather raises wildfire risks in Southeast Idaho and the Pocatello Fire Department is training its crews and readying its brush trucks for a possible outbreak in the Portneuf Valley this summer.
