COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel Car Show will be held on July 25 in Fort Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will feature a hop contest, multiple category winners, and $25,000 in cash prizes with free admission.  KPVI
  • Family Services Alliance joins the final day of the Idaho Gives campaign to raise funds for repairs to its emergency shelter and support free services for survivors. Donations are accepted until tonight at 11:59 p.m. (goal: $5k).  KPVI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gary Allan — known for hits such as 'Every Storm' and 'Right Where I Need to Be' — will open the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel outdoor concert series at Fort Hall on Saturday, June 13. Fans can look forward to an energetic start to the summer with live country music.  KPVI

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Hawkins pipeline in South Bannock County was recently finished, providing a timely win for Marsh Center Irrigation District shareholders & boosting water access for local irrigators.  Idaho State Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, ISU students are locked out of Canvas after a cybersecurity incident affected Instructure — causing disruptions during finals. ISU IT is actively monitoring the situation and urges students to check their email for updates on restoring access.  Local News 8
  • The Idaho State Tax Commission said the school choice tax credit program had a $7 million balance after its first application window, part of a $50 million plan to expand educational choices (more details are expected soon).  Idaho State Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of McCammon issued a boil order on May 7 as water line repairs required turning off valves - flyers and texts will be sent to residents with more details.  East Idaho News
  • McCammon was placed under a water boil order on Thursday, May 7 after water pressure was lost during routine repairs; Mayor Karlene Hall said a notice will follow (updates are expected).  KPVI
  • On May 6 in Boise, Attorney General Raúl Labrador finalized a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family that provides Idaho $24 million for health services and local governments. Funds will distribute over 15 years + Purdue’s production shifts to Knoa Pharma LLC.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

HEALTH NEWS

  • Idaho Power advises residents during National Electrical Safety Month to check power cords, avoid overloading outlets, and secure children with outlet covers (free coloring sheets help teach electrical safety). The utility urges customers to keep appliances from water and maintain safe distances from power lines.  Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
