- ➤ The EPA terminated its $16.4 million grant for Pocatello’s Portneuf River Vision project announced Tuesday. The agency said the funding did not meet its priorities + local project leaders have no further comment. Local News 8
- ➤ Pocatello's Historic Preservation Commission is updating the city's Historic Preservation Plan to guide future development and protect buildings over 50 years old—public input will help set guidelines for the next 10 years. A public hearing will be held at City Hall on May 15 at 6 p.m. Local News 8
- ➤ City Council will hold a Town Hall meeting on May 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers on 911 North 7th Avenue—Council and staff will discuss upcoming summer programs and gather public comments. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ A new public defender workload law will take effect July 1 and may remove the guaranteed right to legal counsel in state-initiated parental rights termination cases, putting some parents at risk of permanently losing custody—changes set to amend current rules by providing counsel only when constitutionally required. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Shoshone Bannock Community Health Center broke ground on a new facility in Fort Hall to replace the shared clinic with the Old Indian Health Service Clinic. The new after-hours clinic will offer urgent, primary and physical therapy services along with a pharmacy, exam rooms and a lab, with construction set to begin in June and expected to take 18 months. - ➤ Malad Dragons secured their 13th straight district title with a 12-2 win over Declo Hornets on May 7 at Malad High School, with Riglee Peterson leading the team. Pocatello Thunder won 2-1 today against Century in the 5A D5 championship and will advance to a state play-in game. East Idaho News
- ➤ Idaho State Bengals celebrated a historic season after sweeping all three first-team outfield positions and both first-team pitcher spots to claim a record 15 All-Conference honors. Ava Brown was named Conference Player of the Year and head coach Andrew Rich earned Conference Coach of the Year—marking a milestone for the team. East Idaho News
