- ➤ Pocatello Animal Services will host pop-up pet licensing events at City Hall on May 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and May 19 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Licenses for dogs and cats are half off and available with cash, check, or card (with a fee on cards). Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer
- ➤ City officials will host a groundbreaking ceremony today at 11 a.m. for the new Connections Credit Union Clubhouse at Riverside Golf Course + 3500 Bannock Highway, marking the start of construction to improve local recreation. Pocatello-Chubbuck Observer

- ➤ The Marshall Public Library added a new mural between the stairs and circulation desk today. Local artist Nick Hottman collaborated with Friends of the Marshall Public Library to include Idaho icons (the state bird, state flower, and local landmarks) in the design, celebrating our community culture. - ➤ Idaho State University will award an honorary doctorate to Frank Vandersloot, Melaleuca's founder and Executive Chairman, at its graduation ceremony on Saturday. The recognition honors his over 40 years of building the Melaleuca Wellness Company and raising funds for humanitarian aid. KPVI

- ➤ State officials have adopted the Ready, Set, Go wildfire evacuation program as the new statewide standard for public safety (it follows Governor Little’s 2024 wildfire report recommendations and supports county sheriffs with clear, consistent instructions during emergencies). - ➤ Bannock County commissioners announced an Advanced Life Support crew will serve the rural southern area this summer, marking the first full-time paramedic service for the region & promising faster emergency response for residents. Idaho State Journal
- ➤ Bannock County posted job openings on May 5 in Pocatello - including positions for deputy prosecutor III, assistant parks coordinator, on-call juvenile detention deputy, maintenance technician, accounts payable technician, facilities assistant, security officer, and shop supervisor. - ➤ Pocatello Free Clinic was awarded a $300,000 grant from Direct Relief & The Pfizer Foundation to launch a sustainable immunization program for underinsured, low-income adults. The clinic will provide routine vaccines including COVID-19, Influenza, and HPV at 1001 N. 7th Ave Suite 155. KPVI

- ➤ Local father and son arm wrestlers (recent national winners) are preparing to represent the U.S. at a world championship arm wrestling event in Japan. They recently competed in a Southeast Idaho tournament and now look to bring home international honors. Idaho State Journal
